A. Gal-Yam (Weizmann Institute), J. Simon (Caltech), A. Klotz (CESR) and E. Rosolowsky (CfA) report: We have observed SN 2007on (Pollas & Klotz, CBET #1121) using the HIRES spectrograph mounted on the 10-m Keck I telescope on Nov. 6 UT, 2007, under bad conditions (clouds). Analysis of a heavily-binned preliminary reduction of the spectral orders covering the area 5800-6700 Ang reveals a deep absorption trough around 6100 Ang, typical for young SNe Ia. The rapid rise of this SN (deduced from ongoing TAROT photometry) and the early type host galaxy (NGC 1404) support this identification.
