We report the radio detection of SN 2008D (XRF080109) in NGC 2770 by the Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope (GMRT) in the L band. GMRT observed the source as a Target of Opportunity between 2008 Jan 20 UT 16:20 and 2008 Jan 21 UT 00:05. The 16 MHz upper sideband data analysis reveals a source at RA 09h 09d 30.7s, DEC +33d 08' 22" (J2000.0) consistent with the optical position (Li and Filippenko CBET 1202) within our resolution of about 5 arcsec. The integrated flux obtained with JMFIT at the above position is 1.2 mJy (centroid frequency 1288.75 MHz). The deconvoluted source is consistent with a point source. The nominal map rms is 0.2 mJy. We thank the staff of the GMRT, especially C. H. Ishwar Chandra, who have made this observation possible. GMRT is run by the National Centre for Radio Astrophysics of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research.
