We have detected a likely Supernova in CSS images from 09 Oct 2008 UT. The detection has the following parameters:

CSS081009:012523-181020 2008-10-09 UT 07:20:41 RA 01:25:23.04 Dec -18:10:20.2 Mag 16.3 Type SN

The object is near a spiral arm of galaxy NGC 539 (z=0.032). No transients are present in earlier epochs of CSS imaging including data taken on or before the 5 Nov 2007 (to mag ~19), or prior DSS1 and DSS2 images to mag ~21. Follow-up is requested.
