INTEGRAL/JEM-X sees a flare from IGR J19112+1358 and gives a refined position

The X-ray monitors JEM-X aboard INTEGRAL have detected IGR J19112+1358 (ATel #1489, #1554) during an observation of GRS 1915+105 between 2009 October 31, 18:55 and November 1, 00:40 (UTC).

This is the first time this source is detected below 20 keV and we obtain a refined position at: RA= 19h 11m 22.3s, DEC= +13d 55' 08.4" with an uncertainty of 1'. This new position is 2.4' from the suggested counterpart IRAS 19089+1351 (ATel #1489) and thus discards this IR source as possible counterpart. No source is reported within the JEM-X error box in the SIMBAD, NED, 2MASS extended source or NVSS catalogs. Several sources can however be found in the 2MASS point source catalog.

IGR J19112+1358 was detected in the 3-10 keV JEM-X1 mosaic at 7 sigma for an effective exposure of 5.9 ks. The measured flux was 19.5 +/- 4.5 mCrab and below 8 mCrab (5-sigma upper limit) between 10-25 keV. ISGRI 20-40 keV 3-sigma upper limit was 5 mCrab. The source was not detected by INTEGRAL during a previous observation 6 days earlier, and is not detected either in the the first available INTEGRAL observation on November 13.

Follow-up observations are encouraged.
