S. Ramya, M. Hegde, S. Arora, G.C. Anupama and U.S. Kamath (Indian Institute of Astrophysics, Bangalore) report spectroscopic observations of U Sco on 2010 January 29.02UT, 0.58d since discovery of the 2010 outburst. The observations were made with the HFSOC instrument on the 2m Himalayan Chandra Telescope at the Indian Astronomical Observatory, IIA, in the wavelength range 3500-9200 A and with a resolution ~1000. The spectrum is very similar to the early phase spectra observed during the 1999 outburst (Anupama and Dewangan, 2000, AJ, 119, 1359). The emission lines are broad and structured. Hydrogen Balmer lines indicate a FWHM velocity of ~7600km/s.
