We report the discovery of two spectroscopically-confirmed supernovae, PS1-1000306 and PS1-1000307 in the Pan-STARRS1 "3Pi faint galaxy supernova survey". PS1-1000306 was detected on June 14 UT (g=17.7) at 16:43:15.06 +32:40:27.7 (J2000) located 2.0" from the center of the host galaxy, SDSS J164315.01+324025.8. PS1-1000307 was detected on June 7 UT (r=19.4) at 16:05:14.63 +05:27:43.0 (J2000) located 0.2" from the center of the host galaxy, SDSS J160514.63+052743.1. Low resolution spectra of PS1-1000306 (July 6 UT) and PS1-1000307 (July 7 UT) were obtained at the William Herschel Telescope (+ ISIS; range 320-1000 nm) and were compared with a library of supernova spectra using the "GELATO" code (Harutyunyan et al., 2008, A&A, 488, 383). The spectrum of PS1-1000306 was found to closely match that of the type Ia supernova 1992A at two weeks after maximum light (z = 0.06) and the spectrum of PS1-1000307 to be similar to the type II supernova 2007od at one month after explosion (z = 0.06). Using a distance modulus of 37.1 (same redshift for both objects), we derived absolute magnitudes of -19.4 and -17.7 for PS1-1000306 and PS1-1000307 respectively. The host galaxies of PS1-1000306 and PS1-1000307 have absolute r-band magnitudes of -15.2 and -15.0 respectively. This announcement was enabled using the PS1 System operated by the PS1 Science Consortium (PS1SC) and its member institutions, and made possible through the PS1 Builders:
