IntroductionQCL is a command language which sits on top of the operating system to provide an easy way of contolling processes that make up a data analysis system. Most shell commands can be issued directly from within QCL thereby making it a powerful extension of operating system. QCL uses the the Leicester Parameter System, to communicate with user processes. All processes which utilise the parameter system can be run directly from the operating system without the use of QCL and they are not therefore inextricably bound to QCL. In the following chapters the full range and capability of QCL is described. Specific commands etc. are typed in upper case and symbolic names, variables and arguments are enclosed in brackets thus <string>. [Next: Running QCL] [Back to Contents] |
