Ginga Specific Software: Program BGDMFIT
Program bgdmfit performs a least-squares fit to background
observations with specified parameters. It generates files describing
the background, which can be subsequently used by bgdsim. If the induced radiation caused
by the South Atlantic Anomaly (SAA) is to be included in the fit then
bgdsaa or bgdsaa37 must be run prior to
bgdmfit.
A variable number (up to a maximum of 50) of Ginga CUBEs or
TIME series containing background data.
A variable number number of files, each describing the dependence of
the background with a particular parameter. Normally there will be at
least 4 such files (and probably 6):
- bgd_constant.phad
- bgd_sud.phad

bgd_cor.phad
- bgd_saa_n.phad (where n is
the number of radioactive decays used)
Bgdmfit requires five input parameters. The QX parameter
system is used to read these parameters.

CUBE or TIME series files fitted. |

| | BGD_DATIN(BGD_NFILE) | Name of the
files containing the background data. |

| | BGD_NPAR | Number of parameters to be
fitted to the data. |

| | BGD_PAR(BGD_NPAR) | Name of parameters
to be fitted to the background data. |

| | BGD_DISP | Controls whether the fitting
procedure interations are displayed. The default is No. |
Bgdmfit returns four output parameters. The QX parameter
system is used to display these parameters.
| BGD_STATISTIC | The type of statistic
used (usually least-squares). |

| | BGD_NPAR | Number of parameters fitted
to the data. |
|
| | BGD_PAR(BGD_NPAR) | Name of parameters
fitted to the background data. |
|
| | BGD_PFILE(BGD_NPAR) | The names of the
output files produced (If BGD_NFILE is greater than one then
BGD_PFILE001 is not set). |
