Ginga Specific Software: Program GINGA2XSP

Purpose

Program ginga2xsp converts Ginga data cubes into spectral files following the OGIP FITS conventions (Arnaud, George & Tennant 1995) and these files can be used within the xspec spectral fitting package, which is part of the XANADU suite of software.

Input File

A Ginga CUBE or spectral (PHAD) file.

Output File

A spectral file following the OGIP FITS conventions.

Input Parameters

Ginga2xsp requires a variable number of input parameters. The QX parameter system is used to read these parameters.

GNG_DATIN The name of the input CUBE or PHAD file. The maximum number of time bins is 2500.
GNG_IDMX The name of appropriate response matrix (the default is $XADMX/low.idmx).
GNG_BIN If the number of time bins is greater than one, then the user can choose to have an output spectral file for each time bin or sum up to GNG_BIN contiguous non-zero time bins into one spectrum. Note that any remaining time bins are ignored and that ginga2xsp writes multiple datasets to one output file. The output file has the same exposure time as the input file.
