Data Selection and CleaningThe format of the raw FRFs is complex and a special program sortac was written to read them. However, the amount of data in a single FRF is too small for convenient data processing; a typical observation will span many FRFs. For that reason sortac accesses a catalogue file and then subsequently acesses all the FRFs named in that catalogue. Data can be selected by merging and editing catalogues. Ginga catalogues are simple text files, and catalogues of each Japanese FRF data tape are stored online as $XAOBS/acnnnn.cat (where nnnn is the tape number). A file containing details of the tapes received is kept on $XAOBS/tape_log.doc.
