The installation of the Ginga data analysis software
The Ginga data analysis software can be downloaded as a tar file via the WWW. The files in the tar file contain the executables and other files needed to reduce the Ginga FRFs to HDS and FITS files ready for scientific analysis. The tar file should be unpacked in a directory specific to the Ginga software (i.e. it should not be your current working directory). The file bin/start_ginga should be edited so that the environment variable GINGA_ROOT is set to the directory containing the software. The distributed directory structure should be kept so that there is no need to modify the environment variables listed in appendix A. In order to access the software it is necessary to source the bin/start_ginga script. This will set the environment variables and add the Ginga bin directory to your PATH.
