The following is a list of the available programs.

Ginga data cube, time series or spectrum. |
| att_insert: | Inserts high-energy
transmission efficiency information into Ginga data files but
does not perform the attitude correction. |

spectrum. |
| bgdfind: | Returns a list of Ginga
background data files found on the current directory. |
| bgdisas: | Calculates the ISAS psuedo
housekeeping (HK) parameters (to be used on MPC1 mode only). If

| bgdisud: | Inserts SUD rates, from a data
file generated by the program bgdssud, into a Ginga data
cube or time series. |

subtracts Ginga data files using a nearby (in time) off-source
observation (assumes that there is only one off-source
observation). |
| bgdlocal91.qcl: | Similar to the
qcl procedure bgdlocal.qcl except that the model of the
radioactive decays follwing passage through the South Atlantic Anomaly
includes only one coefficient. Suitable for observations taken after
mid-1990. |
| bgdmfit: | Performs a least-squares fit
to a number of background observations with specified parameters. The
output files are subsequently used by the program bgdsim. If
the induced radiation caused by the SAA is to be included in the fit
then bgdsaa, bgdsaa37 or bgdsaab must be run
prior to bgdmfit. |
| bgdmid: | Calculates a new HK parameter
equivalent to the LAC mid-layer count rate in the 1-5 keV energy
range. This parameter can be used to quantify radiation induced by the
SAA. |
| bgdperr: | Adds systematic errors to a
Ginga data cube, time series or spectrum. The errors are
specified in terms of a percentage of the count rate. |
| bgdsaa: | Inserts psuedo HK parameters
into an existing data file. These new parameters are called SAA_1,
SAA_2, etc. and represent the radiation induced in Ginga
by passage through the SAA. Each parameter is a time counter with a
different decay rate. |
| bgdsaa37: | Similar to bgdsaa
except that 37 day cycle is included in the model. |
| bgdsaab: | Similar to bgdsaa or
bgdsaa37 except that 37-day cycle may be included in or
excluded from the model. |
| bgdserr: | Adds systematic errors to a
Ginga data cube, time series or spectrum. The errors are 0.02
counts sec-1 per channel below 10
keV and 0.01 counts sec-1 per
channel above 10 keV. |
| bgdsim: | Generates background data for a
particular Ginga data cube or time series. The program
bgdmfit must be run prior to bgdsim. |
| bgdssud: | Maps the SUD rate, from the
input data files, against the the angle from ascending node and
the longitude of the ascending node (dividing the data into
20° bins). The output data file is used with the program
bgdssud, to correct SUD rates on occasions when the source
contributes a significant number of counts above 24 keV. |
| bgduniv.qcl: | A qcl procedure to
subtract Ginga data cubes or time series using standardised
files. It should be used when no local background is available, or for
cases where the background subtraction is not important. In addition,
it can be used when comparing "local" and
"universal" background subtraction methods for weak sources,
where uncertainties due to fluctuations in the Cosmic X-ray background
are important (see Williams et al. 1992). |
| catget: | Obtains a (time ordered)
catalogue covering a user specified period. |
| catsort: | Time orders a catalogue file. |
| cleanall: | Removes poor quality data
from a Ginga data cube or time series. |

history of a file. | |

an ASCII file produced by the program what_tape to the current
directory. |
| corrac: | Performs various types of
correlation analysis (Spearman's, Pearson's and sum square difference
of ranks') on Ginga housekeeping (HK) data. Algorithims are
taken from Numerical Recipes' subroutines Spear and Pearsn. |
| divcb: | Performs divisions on a
Ginga data cube, time series or spectrum. |
| foldcb: | Folds a section of a
Ginga data cube or time series on a given period. The output
file contains the folded light curve and can be used as input for the
program ginga2xsp to produce phase resolved spectra. |

into account the time delay to the heliocentric frame of
reference. |
| foldhk: | Folds a Ginga HK
parameter, within a data cube or time series, on a given period. |
| foldts: | Folds a section of a
Ginga time series on a period or range of periods; the
period(s) may also change linearly with time. In the case of multiple
folds the output file contains the chi-square (against a constant
model) of the folded light curve at each period, as well as the actual
folded light curve at the period having the maximum chi-square. In the
other case, that of the single fold, the output file contains only the
folded light curve (c.f. foldcb). |
| fold_multi: | Folds up to 50 time series
on a single period. The output file contains only the folded light
curve. Fold_multi folds data after taking into account the time delay
to the heliocentric frame of reference (generated using the program
helio, although this is not necessary. |
