Previous: Analysis software: ASTERIX
The standard analysis software system (SASS) is used to process the raw
telemetry from the satellite into a format that users can work with (using
ASTERIX).
In January 1994 a new version of the SASS was introduced. From this date
all new data entering the archive was processed to this standard, known
as ``REV2". In addition, a programme of reprocessing of the old REV0
and REV1 datasets (ie. those originally processed before Jan. 1994) was
undertaken. This procedure is now almost complete; only 3% of the archive
remains to be converted into REV2 format.
This should not be a major issue for most users; the ASTERIX system uses
interface routines which convert each type of dataset into the standard
HDS formats. The precise details of the construction and contents of each
set of files downloaded from the archive are therefore of minor importance.
The existence of REV0/1 data in the archive is mentioned here only for
completeness.
